Intr： Hans Von den Hoff finished his PhD at the University of Amsterdam in 1993. Since then he is working in the department of Orthodontics at Radboud University in Nijmegen as assistant professor. He is also board member of the European Tissue Repair Society (ETRS). His research focuses on wound healing and scarring after cleft palate repair. Scar formation in the mucosa and muscles of the palate after surgery causes growth disturbances of the upper jaw and impairs speech. Aim is to develop strategies to reduce scarring in mucosa and muscle tissue using in vivo and in vitro models.

Intr：S.M. Balaji is the Consultant Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon from Chennai, India; has his own exclusive craniofacial Hospital. He is the first PhD, from Govt. Tamil Nadu Medical University in the field of Maxillofacial Surgery. He is the current Editor-in-Chief of the Annals of Maxillofacial Surgery (AMS), a pubmed indexed journal and Executive Editor of Indian Journal of Dental Research (IJDR). He is the Immediate Past-President of the International College of Dentists (ICD) India, Sri Lanka & Nepal Section, Immediate Past President of International Association of Dental Research-Asia Pacific region (IADR-APR) and President of IADR STAR network. Prof. Dr. S.M. Balaji is the author of "The Textbook on Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery," published by Elsevier which is currently the country's best seller and the prescribed book to be used by undergraduate and post graduate students alike. To his credit he has received numerous awards including the prestigious Dr BC Roy National Award, the highest of the Medical Council of India. An acclaimed speaker at National and international conferences, he has received Dr Ginwallah Trophy, the highest of the Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons of India twice. He has won various best scientific research awards including the ‘Modus Award of Merit – a cash award of 50,000 Yen’ for the Best Innovative Surgical Technique at the 6th Asian Maxillofacial Conference, Tokyo. He has also delivered various orations including the prestigious Dr. MS Ginwallah Oration, the highest oration of Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons of India and the highly esteemed Dr R Ahmed Oration, the highest Oration of the Indian Dental Association. He has also represented the nation at various International forums including the ADA, FDI and IADR. He has been awarded the Brammaiah Sastri Award for ground breaking research findings in the field of reconstructive surgery using novel bone morphogenetic proteins by the Indian Association of Biomedical Scientists. Intr：Edwin Ongkosuwito finished his postgraduate course in Orthodontics in Nijmegen in 2001. Since then he has been a member of the cleft palate and craniofacial team at the Erasmus Medical Center Rotterdam until 2012. In 2012 he started working in Nijmegen at the department of Orthodontics and Craniofacial Biology, Dentistry, Radboud University Medical Center. There he became a member of the cleft palate and craniofacial team and deputy director of the 4 year Postgraduate program in Orthodontics. One of his research spearhead interests lies in the etiology of oral clefts and developing personalized 3D treatment and follow-up strategies in the multidisciplinary treatment of patients with oral clefts. The aim is to lessen the burden of care in these patients.

Intr：Paul Fletcher’s B.A. was from the University of Oxford, he received an MPhil in Linguistics from the University of Reading, UK, and a PhD in Linguistics from the University of Alberta, Canada. From 1975 he was successively Lecturer, Reader and Professor in the Department of Linguistic Science at the University of Reading. In 1995 he moved to the University of Hong Kong as Chair Professor in Speech and Hearing Sciences. In 2003 he became founding Chair of the Department of Speech and Hearing Sciences, University College Cork, Ireland, where he is now Emeritus Professor. His research has focused on language development and language disorders in children, primarily those speaking English, but also more recently Cantonese, Putonghua and Irish. He is the author, co-author or editor of 15 books, and the author or co-author of over 80 research papers and chapters.

Intr：Prof. Dr.mult. Robert Sader has received his training in Oral-Maxillofacial Surgery at Technical University Munich. After working at University Hospital in Basel, in 2004 he was appointed professor, director and chair of Oral, Cranio-Maxillofacial and Facial Plastic Surgery at Goethe-University Frankfurt. His department offers the whole surgical spectrum from dentoalveolar surgery, implantology, traumatology, orthognatics, TMJ surgery, oncology, plastic reconstructive and craniofacial surgery. Actually, he is president of the “German Academy of Aesthetic Dentistry”, the “Frankfurt Dental Association founded in 1863” and member of the Executive Board of the International Federation of Esthetic Dentistry. He is Dean for clinical student affairs and medical director of the University Dental Institute “Carolinum”.

Intr：Prof. Adi Rachmiel is head of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Department at Rambam Health Care Campus and clinical associate Professor at the Faculty of Medicine at the Technion, Haifa, Israel. He began his career at Rambam in 1985 and later had a fellow at Cranio-Maxillofacial Surgery at Providence hospital, Southfield, Michigan USA under Professor IT Jackson.Main clinical interests - Management of oral and maxillofacial deformities, Orthognathic surgery, Cleft palate surgery, Facial Trauma, alveolar ridge reconstruction, Distraction osteogenesis and the influence of growth factors to improve osteogenesis, treatment of benign and malignant tumors of the oral cavity and jaws, obstructive sleep apnea in children and adults with integrated three-dimensional imaging methods for evaluating the etiology of the obstruction and innovative surgical planning to legthen of the jaws. Main research interests - Bone formation during Distraction osteogenesis and application of growth factors to improve the osteogenesis, management of obstructive sleep apnea. Prof. Rachmiel is among the pioneers in the development of this method in both research and clinical cases. He has completed a PhD at the Technion in this field. Prof. Rachmiel is the israeli councilor at the European association of Cranio-Maxillo-Facial Surgery (EACMFS) and also member of the international association of Oral and Maxillofacial surgery. Prof. Rachmiel is a fellow in AOCMF, Davos-Switzerland, which specializes in the manufacture and design of implants for the repair and reconstruction of facial bones. Prof. Adi Rachmiel published over 120 articles and book chapters in the international literature. In addition, he is a keynote lecturer in numerous national and international conferences, amongst them are Plenary or Symposial lectures.

Dr. Jean-Charles Doucet, DMD, MD, MSc, FRCD(C) is an Assistant Professor of the Division of Oral and Maxillofacial Science at Dalhousie University, Halifax, Canada. He completed his dentistry degree (DMD) at the University of Montreal in 2004, followed by a general practice residency at the Notre-Dame Hospital and University of Montreal in 2005. He then obtained both his medical degree and masters of Science, and completed his residency in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Dalhousie University in 2011. He then concluded his subspecialty training with a Cleft and Craniofacial Fellowship at the University of Montpellier-1, France in 2012. Dr. Doucet joined the QE II Health Sciences Centre and IWK Health Centre, Halifax, Canada in July 2012 as an attending oral and maxillofacial surgeon. His principal clinical interests include the primary and secondary repair of cleft lip and palate, the surgical management of cleft related speech problems, and the correction of other craniofacial deformities. Dr. Doucet has numerous peer-reviewed publications and his research interests focus on the primary repair of the cleft lip nasal deformity, early alveolar bone grafting, and cleft distraction osteogenesis.

Intr：Xiaohui Jiao, professor of Harbin Medical University’s Stomatological Hospital, is doctoral supervisor and post doctoral supervisor. Dr. Jiao received his bachelor's degree from Department of Oral in 1983, and received his master degree in 1989. He studied abroad at Japan's Niigata University in 1991. There, he completed his doctorate degree of oral medicine in 1996, becoming the first individual to hold an Oral Medical Doctorate in the province of Heilongjiang. In 2001 he worked in Department of Neurosurgery for post-doctoral studies. Currently, Dr. Jiao is the academician of International College of dentist, serving as the vice president of Affiliated Stomatological Hospital of Harbin Medical University, academic leader of Heilongjiang provincial stomatological clinical subject, director of Department of oral and maxillofacial surgery, chief physician and professor. As a doctoral supervisor and a post doctoral supervisor, he has been directed 33 doctoral students and 21 master's degree graduate students. Dr. Jiao is currently engaged in the research study of cleft lip and palate sequence and head and neck cancer. He has published more than 80 academic articles, including more than 20 articles included in the SCI. Dr. Jiao is also the chief editor of the textbook "oral science" and 3 other works. Dr. Jiao received the provincial second prize for scientific and technological progress. He chaired many study topics held by the State Education Commission and the Natural Science Foundation of Heilongjiang provincial government, and was also heavily involved in the Japanese Ministry of Education's international joint research projects. Dr. Jiao was the member of the international medical aid by Japan's Association of cleft lip and palate and also appointed as a specialist by the Degree Office of the State Council of China. Dr. Jiao is the vice chairman of student councils in four provinces and municipalities, and the editor of seven professional magazines. He is the medical expert of the Judicial Authentication Committee of Heilongjiang province and Harbin.

Intr：Brief introduction of Professor Qiang Liu Professor Qiang Liu is working at the department of oral maxillofacial surgery of China Medical University School of Stomatology. He is specialized in cleft surgery. He proposed “A Simple and Precise Classification for Cleft Lip and Palate: A Five-Digit Numerical Recording System (LAPAL system)”in 2007. He is also having much experience in facial plastic surgery. He thinks the orthognathic surgery and rhynoplasty are the fundamental key points for the cosmetic result in the sequential treatment of the clef patients.

Intr：Prof. Lian MA was born in the May 1959. She is working in School of Stomatology Peking University as Professor and Consultant in Oral and Maxillofacial field specialized on cleft lip & palate and head and neck congenital deformities. She graduated from the same school as she works now in 1983 and got Bachelor degree. She got her Ph.D degree on dental science and medicine in 1987 under supervising of Prof. Guanghe Wang and Prof. Zaoju Zou. From Sept. 1991 to Apr. 1992, Dr Lian MA was in Great Ormond Street Children Hospital London as British council fellow post doctoral research, then was employed by GOS, UCH, EDH as senior registrar in London until 1996. She also held and has hold position – Dean assistant, Director of cleft lip and palate center, School of Stomatology, Chairman of cleft lip and palate division of Chinese Oral Maxillofacial Association , Chairman of speech disorder rehabilitation division of Chinese medicine association and so on. Dr Ma had also worked in Speech and Hearing Science department of HongKong University for three years as research fellow doing the research on Articulation development on Putonghua. Dr Ma’s main interesting is cleft lip and palate treatment and syndrome related with head and neck, also including cleft palate speech and speech disorders caused by other reasons. She has translated a book -“Head and Neck Syndromes” into Chinese with her colleges, also joined in writing a few books such as “Team approach for cleft lip and palate treatment”. As keynote speaker She has attended many international conference. Numbers of postgraduate students ( Master degree and Ph.D ) have been supervised by Dr Ma for recent ten years. Over 15,000 patents（primary and secondary deformities） have been operated and treated by Dr Ma . Over 130 scientific papers have been published. She has an abundant of clinical experience for the patients with cleft lip & palate and other congenital deformities.

Intr：Guo-min Wang, D.D.S., M.D. is Director of the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and Cleft Lip/Palate Center, at Affiliated Shanghai Ninth People’s Hospital, and School of Stomatology, Shanghai Jiao Tong University in China. He is an oral and maxillofacial surgeon and a speech pathologist specializing in cleft palate and functional speech disorders. He received his medical degree from Shanghai Second Medical University, and he obtained M.D. degree in maxillofacial surgery at the Showa of University (Tokyo, Japan), and took advanced training as a visiting scholar in oral & maxillofacial surgery, craniofacial deformity at Kobe University (Japan), and at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (USA). He took advanced study in microsurgery and reconstructive surgery. Dr. Wang is an active member of the Chinese Cleft Lip/Palate division and has served on numerous committees, He also is an Member of the Expert Group of the United States Smile Train Charity Projects. He was past Chairman of Division of Chinese Cleft Lip/Palate. He has presented at numerous national and international meetings concentrating on the evaluation and management of organic pharyngeal flap surgery and speech disorders, and he is an invited speaker at hospitals and universities in China. He also created the Chinese speech intelligibility’s table, and uses it to some cleft lip/palate patients, speech disorders clinic, and hospital/universities. His research has dealt chiefly from the Shanghai municipal government for his clinical and research work. Dr. Wang is editor of Shanghai Journal of Stomatology, and Chinese Journal of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery and has published over 174 papers, 3 books, and 18 chapters in print. Guomin Wang，Chief of Cleft Lip and Palate Research and Treatment Center, Shanghai Jiaotong University, Professor and chief surgeon in Department of Oral and Cranio-Maxillofacial Surgery, Shanghai 9th people’s hospital, Deputy Chief of SINOCLEFT, Co-chief of WCF Shanghai Center, Distinguished expert of Smile Train. There are over 1800 cleft patients treated in his center every year, 95% of which are from all over the country, even abroad. Over 20000 cleft patients were treated in his center since it was founded, and the local patients only accounted for 5%. Since 1999, his team treated over 2000 poor patients for free, and some of the surgeons and nurses were invited to Philippines, Vietnam, east Timor, New Guinea for charity missions. The fistula rate of his team is less than 2%. His team collaborates with Shanghai First Maternity and Infant Hospital and Shanghai Children’s Medical Center to treat difficult cases with clefts and associated syndromes, which is known as ‘Shanghai Model’. The center trained many fellows from all over the country. His team also created the Chinese speech intelligibility test table, which is widely used in China. He chief-edited 3 books, edited 18 books, published 178 papers, and won 3 Science and Technology Progress Awards.

Intr：Yi Biao, born in Beijing 1962. Graduated from Beijing Medical University in 1995 and got Medical doctor degree there. Now the professor in Oral & Maxillo-facial Surgery, Peking University, Hospital of Stomatology. The main areas of work are the correct dento-facial deformities and the treatment obstructive sleep apnea syndrome with orthognathic surgery.

Intr：尹宁北，整形外科学教授、博士生导师。1992年本科毕业于华西医科大学口腔医学院。2001年于北京大学口腔医学院获得博士学位。现任中国医学科学院整形外科医院整形一科主任, 唇腭裂中心主任。担任中华医学会整形外科学分会唇腭裂学组组长、中华口腔医学会中国唇腭裂诊治联盟（Sino-Cleft）副主任委员，《中华整形外科杂志》编委，《中华医学美学美容杂志》执行主编。从事整形外科工作24年，发表各类论文96篇，以第一或通讯作者发表SCI论文20篇。

Intr：赵振民，教授，主任医师，博士，博士生导师，从事整形外科、口腔颌面外科、颅颌面外科临床与基础研究。曾获国家科技进步二等奖、中华医学科技三等奖、北京市科学技术三等奖、第十届吴杨医学药学三等奖。承担国家863、973、国自然等课题10多项。国家儿童医学中心首都医科大学北京儿童医院口腔科主任、整形外科主任。原中国医学科学院协和医学院整形医院副院所长。Br. J.
